About the event

You can’t think your way out of Anxiety

“The mind cannot talk the body out of survival mode... The nervous system doesn't speak in language. It speaks in sensation, posture, and breath. You can't think your way out of a threat response, because thinking isn't the input it's listening for.”

Frontiers in Psychiatry: The Mind-Body Continuum [1]

Anxiety is the experience; stress hormones are the body’s language describing that threat.

Stress hormones calcify your body: they tighten your stomach, inflame your gut, and lay weight on your chest. They constrict fascia, reduce blood flow, and create tension in your head, neck and shoulders.

Stress sits with you, staying hypervigilant throughout the day. Masking to appear “normal” demands endless energy. At night your sleep may be interrupted or filled with violent dreams, so your brain never gets the deep rest it needs to regenerate and clear accumulated toxins.
